Description & Applications
Product Description
Atheris squamigera venom is a complex mixture of enzymes and peptides with potent hemotoxic effects. It is of particular interest for the discovery of novel disintegrins—peptides that inhibit platelet aggregation by blocking integrin receptors (e.g., αIIbβ3). The venom also contains procoagulant enzymes that activate Factor X or prothrombin.
Research Applications
- Anti-thrombotic Drug Design: Screening for novel integrin antagonists.
- Venom Evolution: Comparative studies of arboreal viper venoms.
- Haematology: Investigating mechanisms of consumption coagulopathy.
Quality Control
Pooled from healthy adult specimens to minimize ontogenetic variation. Verified by HPLC fingerprinting.
