Description & Applications
Product Description
Atheris squamigera venom is a complex mixture of enzymes and peptides with potent hemotoxic effects. It is of particular interest for the discovery of novel disintegrinsβpeptides that inhibit platelet aggregation by blocking integrin receptors (e.g., Ξ±IIbΞ²3). The venom also contains procoagulant enzymes that activate Factor X or prothrombin.
Research Applications
- Anti-thrombotic Drug Design: Screening for novel integrin antagonists.
- Venom Evolution: Comparative studies of arboreal viper venoms.
- Haematology: Investigating mechanisms of consumption coagulopathy.
Quality Control
Pooled from healthy adult specimens to minimize ontogenetic variation. Verified by HPLC fingerprinting.
