Description & origin
The PLA2 catalytic domain is expressed in E. coli with periplasmic targeting to facilitate oxidative folding. Inclusion bodies are solubilized and refolded using arginine-assisted buffers, followed by purification through ion exchange and gel filtration. Activity is confirmed using fluorogenic phospholipid substrates.
Molecular targets
The enzyme hydrolyzes sn-2 acyl chains of phospholipids, generating lysophospholipids and free fatty acids. Kinetic parameters (kcat 53 s⁻¹, Km 8 μM for POPC vesicles) are supplied in the COA alongside calcium dependence curves.

Format & handling
Reconstitute with 1 mL 20 mM HEPES, 150 mM NaCl, 2 mM CaCl₂, pH 7.4. Avoid chelating agents that could diminish activity. Aliquot and freeze at −80 °C.
