Description & Applications
Description & origin
This recombinant α-bungarotoxin uses codon-optimized gene synthesis with an N-terminal His6 tag removed via TEV protease cleavage post-purification. Expression in HEK293 cells ensures appropriate folding and disulfide bond formation. Following immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC), the protein undergoes size-exclusion chromatography and endotoxin removal.
Molecular targets
Binding assays confirm sub-nanomolar affinity for α7 and muscle-type nicotinic receptors. Competitive binding data are supplied using radiolabeled α-bungarotoxin displacement. The COA includes kinetic parameters from biolayer interferometry.
Research applications
- Ligand binding assays: Standardize displacement or titration assays.
- Antibody screening: Evaluate neutralizing antibody potency for antivenom initiatives.
- Synaptic physiology: Probe receptor densities in neuromuscular preparations.

Format & handling
Reconstitute with 1 mL sterile PBS, pH 7.4, supplemented with 0.02% sodium azide. Filter (0.22 μm) before cell-based assays. Store aliquots at −80 °C.
Documentation
- COA: purity data, mass confirmation, endotoxin (< 0.1 EU/μg), binding kinetics.
- SDS: hazard information, PPE, response measures.
Safety notes
Handle inside BSL-2 environment. Use double gloving and avoid aerosol generation. Decontaminate with 0.5% sodium hypochlorite.
