Description & Applications
Product Description
Bufo bufo secretions are chemically distinct from Rhinella species, containing high concentrations of indole alkaloids such as bufotenine (5-HO-DMT), a serotonin analog. This makes the venom a unique tool for probing 5-HT receptor subtypes and studying hallucinogenic tryptamines in a biological context.
Research Applications
- Neuropharmacology: Characterizing 5-HT receptor binding and signaling.
- Chemical Ecology: Understanding predator deterrence.
Quality Control
Collected without harm to the animal. Analyzed for alkaloid content.
